Yonca Karakaş (born 1982, Diyarbakir), graduated from Yıldız Technical University Art and Design Faculty, Photography and Video department in 2021. In 2014, she opened her own studio called Y O N K A. She participated in many exhibitions in galleries such as Akbank Sanat, Guy Hepner and Istanbul Modern. Represented by PG Art Gallery, Karakaş continues her studies and life in Istanbul.
In her works, she edits photographs of animal, plant and human forms with the idea of genetic engineering, creating an image of ideal life shaped by the idea of perfection and identity. Meats in a frame, candy crosses, giant lobsters, flawless skin, an android that avoids eye contact and cold characters are her way of opening up a new possibility.
