Günnur Özsoy

New Materiality

4 - 30 November 2008

Known for her three-dimensional works with organic forms, Günnur Özsoy meets viewers at Pg Art Gallery throughout the month of November.

Previously recognized for her organic-form sculptures produced using materials such as aluminum, bronze, and polyester, the artist now presents felt works shaped like flat pebbles and colored with natural root dyes. The pieces can function individually, yet when brought together they allow for various arrangements, forming a cohesive whole when installed without requiring any fixed rules.

In contrast to the smooth, glossy, slippery, and light-reflecting surfaces seen in her earlier works, these new pieces absorb light with their matte surfaces, evoking an almost archaic atmosphere for the viewer.
