HALF FEMALE REASON PERSON
There is something we can observe at every moment around us: the feminine is hidden within every living being… In a plant, in an animal, in a book written through a woman’s gaze, or in a work of art.
Developed as a response to the masculine order imposed by the existing system, Hanefi Yeter’s exhibition “Half Female” will meet viewers at PG Art Gallery with a special opening on March 8, International Women’s Day.
Departing from the idea that one half of the world belongs to the feminine, Hanefi Yeter also seeks to make a reference to the destruction inflicted upon both society and nature through the ecological imbalance caused by human intervention.
Alongside nature, which is being constantly worn down, the exhibition serves as a warning to the urban individual who is becoming increasingly insensitive to their surroundings and more withdrawn. The growing superficiality in human relationships leads to the dulling of the emotions that inherently exist within us.
In today’s world, where artificiality surrounds us on all sides, Yeter’s works — produced through various techniques such as carving, canvas, beadwork, and bronze — aim to remind us of the natural essence that still remains in human hands. The exhibition can be visited at PG Art Gallery between March 8 and April 15, 2006.
