Kemal Tufan meets viewers once again at Bebek PG Art Gallery with his latest sculptures. The exhibition, opening on Wednesday, March 7, will remain on view until April 4.
The concept of Tufan’s recent exhibition, titled “Camouflage,” is built upon the artist’s fundamental notions of “contrasts and contradictions.” While the strong references he draws from nature appear particularly in the form of fish, his interventions in material and his bold use of paint reinforce the concept of camouflage, carrying his sculptures into a contemporary dimension.
Having realized a significant part of his artistic practice abroad, Kemal Tufan reflects in this exhibition the influence of the periods he spent in Central and South America, particularly in the vibrant colors featured in his sculptures.
Through ironic references to the social camouflage individuals adopt within the wild order of the system in which we live, the artist presents parallels between human behavior and other living beings in nature.
PG Art Gallery, which has sustained its contemporary vision without compromise for many years, invites all art lovers to Kemal Tufan’s sculpture exhibition “Camouflage.”
