The exhibition “on the Road”, featuring Kezban Arca Batıbeki’s latest works, opens on October 3 at Pg Art Gallery. Entirely shaped around a single theme, the concepts of road and being on the road stand out throughout the exhibition. Sharp, luminous, and striking yellows—alongside road signs and asphalt tones—dominate the 16 works on view. Another key shared element is the presence of three-dimensional figures.
Forms drawn from everyday life—such as records and toys—which were partially used in the artist’s previous exhibitions, now come to the forefront in all the works of this show, transforming into a method of expression. As in Batıbeki’s overall practice, the paintings in On the Road are structured with carefully calibrated balances; lines progressing within a determined composition culminate almost like sentences ending with an exclamation mark through the addition of three-dimensional forms.
While each work in On the Road can be evaluated individually, the exhibition as a whole also presents a unified proposition. Some works function as pairs or triptychs, forming parts of a larger whole. With its details and layered references—featuring animal figures, palm trees, trucks, lorries, forests, and lights—the exhibition opens the door to a surprising world. At the same time, On the Road stands as a significant milestone in Kezban Arca Batıbeki’s artistic journey.
