Stonerollers

7 - 31 May 2008

In May, Pg Art Gallery presents video works and photographs by three international sculptors: Jerome Symons (Netherlands), Kemal Tufan (Turkey), and Martin Zet (Czech Republic).

The three artists first met in 1996 at the sculpture symposium in Ma’alot/Tarshiha (Israel), where they worked side by side carving stone. They subsequently participated together in numerous projects, and their paths continued to cross at sculpture symposia in various countries around the world. Over time, the artists expanded into different fields of art, including video, photography, and installation. Although each maintains a distinct artistic approach, they draw upon the shared conceptual language of sculpture — social, ecological, political, poetic — and continue to reference sculpture in their multidisciplinary practices.

Nourished by the cultures of different geographies, the artists come together for the first time in Istanbul with works produced across various disciplines. The exhibition titled “Stonerollers” will be on view at Pg Art Gallery throughout the month of May.
