Ayşe Wilson

Ayse Wilson (born 1970, Boston) graduated from Wellesley College in Boston, followed by an academic education in Florence. She then completed a Masters in Fine Arts with a concentration in drawing and painting at the New York Academy of Art in 2003. Following her studies, Wilson worked as a painting assistant at Jeff Koons’ studio, assisting with large scale, photorealistic works and preparing for museum exhibitions.

Her current work continues to remind audiences of youth, innocence, emotions and shared memories. She seeks to express the primal, untamed and deliberate personalities found in youthful emotions and further to that, how the power of imagination fosters our identity. She is interested in moments of transformative discovery which mark and shape human development. Her child-like and vibrant figures are inspired by everything from her time in Florence studying Renaissance masters to emotive expressions in contemporary dance.
