Monica Delgado

Monica Delgado (born 1979, Manila), graduated from Philippines University, Fine Arts department in 2003. Represented by Maybaum Gallery in USA, she has been represent by PG Art Gallery in Turkey since 2021. Delgado continues her studies and life in New York.

By taking the cultural debate on disappearance of traditional painting as a starting point, Delgado  aims to break outside the boundaries of the canvas and use a wide spectrum of materials. She uses painting as a topic instead of a technique. She creates depth in her works by drying the acrylic paint in layers, drops or strips and then layering the pieces on different surfaces. Her way of approaching paintings as a sculpture is her way of questioning painting technique.
